Architecture & Built Environment facility obtains Planning Consent

Our proposed alterations and extension to the Category II Listed Sutherland Building for Northumbria University has recently been granted Planning and Listed Building consent. The project will provide a new home for the Architecture and Built Environment Faculty, providing much needed studio and teaching space over two levels, transforming the ‘industrial’ courtyard to the rear of the building. The project creates exciting new connections between the existing 1887 building by Dunn, Hansom and Dunn and the new studio extension, in the form of a new internal atrium and an external stepped terrace.

Working in collaboration with WSP, Desco, Apex Acoustics and Turner & Townsend the project is due to start on site in September 2017 and is planned to complete in time for the new term in 2018.
