We are delighted that the projects at 50 George Square and the David Hume Tower Lower Ground Floor were presented with a commendation at the Civic Trust Awards held at the Globe Theatre in London on Friday night. The building at 50 George Square was designed by Robert Matthew, Johnston-Marshall and Partners, and completed in 1970. It is Category B listed and forms part of the Category A listed grouping, which also includes the Adam Ferguson Building and David Hume Tower. These were designed to house the Arts Faculty, and this grouping is one of the key examples of Scottish Modernism.
The project included a series of interventions and conservation works preparing the buildings for the 21st Century and achieving approximately 60% Carbon Emission Savings.
