GIA Bake Off success

The master-bakers of our team somewhat naively signed up to recreate, in cake form, our recently completed Theatre Royal in Glasgow for Scottish Opera. After a rigorous period of prototyping we re-envisioned the theatre in a red velvet sponge to represent the stair spiral staircase, ginger bread for the floor slabs and cast honey comb fins for the external cladding. This was accompanied by our comprehensive National Baking Specification and our creation was exhibited as part of the Merchant City Festival’s Edible Architecture competition run by the Glasgow Institute of Architects. We were delighted to have impressed the judges enough to be awarded top prize in the competition against some stiff competition!
