Scottish War Blinded ground breaking

We were pleased to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for our new day centre for Scottish War Blinded in Paisley, at which Richard Hellewell, chief executive of Royal Blind, and Mhairi Black, MP for Paisley & Renfrewshire South spoke about the project’s benefit to the local community and beyond.

The centre builds upon the success of the Scottish War Blinded day centre in Linburn, completed for the same client in 2011, and provides facilities for visually impaired ex-servicemen and women including activity rooms, a sports hall, gymnasium, art and craft workshops, a café and bowling green.

Alongside the day centre Royal Blind are building a new 54-bed care home, with pedestrian links provided over the access road between the two buildings to allow them to share resources, with both projects due for completion in Autumn 2017.
