Carnegie Institute Office, Dunfermline

The new Carnegie Foundation building was commissioned by three separate Carnegie Trusts – the Universities Trust, Dunfermline and UK Trusts – who each occupied separate accommodation in Dunfermline. The new building has provided an opportunity for all three Trusts to co-exist whilst retaining their independent identity and function but jointly benefiting from the economies of shared common facilities.

Imagined as a pavilion in the park, the building seeks to disguise its large office floor plate and meeting spaces in a form which always seems to be sweeping away from the viewer. Pittencrief Park remains pre-eminent, the building a piece of built landscape.
