The Fraser Building, University of Glasgow

This multi-coloured enhancement of a 1960s slab block has become a new centralised home for several of the University’s student services departments and the campus's main dining facility.

The concrete frame has been left exposed internally and painted black at high levels, utilising inherent thermal mass and natural ventilation enhanced by suspended galvanised air ducting.

Open plan office space sits to the cooler north side of the building and interfaces with the public side with a ribbon feature that incorporates fritted glass screens, meeting pods and reception desks, unified by oak finishing.

At lower ground level there is a bookshop, medical practice and pharmacy while the raised third level contains the large student dining area with mezzanine boardroom and function suite.
