The classrooms of this single storey pavilion, step in plan across it's corner site under a unifying mono-pitch roof. Two distinctive spaces are framed as a result, a garden and an all weather sports field. The most easterly gable establishes a new entry and pupil drop off setting with corresponding access and egress at the west end to the existing school.
The off-set geometry generates to the lower side a sequence of inset covered external classroom balconies overlooking the sports pitch whilst to the higher edge a diagonal internal passage of classroom assembly and breakout spaces. The more elevated angled building volume addresses with its circulation public face the greater school campus. At the same time the lower aspect to the street, maintains across the roof, long views to the central and historic Fettes School tower in the distance.
