Welcome

Hello and welcome to the website for Balloch Pierhead Improvement Action Plan. Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority and West Dunbartonshire Council have developed an Improvement Action Plan for Balloch Pierhead.

The goal of this Improvement Action Plan is to illustrate what success looks like for the Pierhead, prioritise actions, support funding proposals, and be used as a planning guidance reference for any future development proposals. The plan’s proposals aim to enhance the functionality and appeal of the Pierhead area through community engagement and collaborative place-making, focusing on thoughtful landscaping and orientation improvements rather than any large-scale built development.

Part of the National Park Authority’s commitment to improving places within the National Park to deliver greater benefits for communities, visitors and businesses.

Using the outcomes from the Improvement Action Plan West Dunbartonshire Council and the National Park Authority are continuing to work in partnership to develop the design of Phase 1 at Balloch Pierhead which will aim to improve the visitor experience along the shoreline to attract people towards the Pierhead. Phase 1 is focussing on the design of a New Operations Hub, pedestrian movement and paths as well as public spaces. Phase 1 was identified as areas that are within the National Park Authority and West Dunbartonshire Council ownership and also where there is potential funding available. The number one priority is to make the site safer for all. Delivering the first phase will help unlock the future phases including:

– The Pierhead regeneration

– Opportunities to influence improvements to signpost and attract people to the Pierhead outwith the site

– The Vehicle Circulation
