Uplifting Mitchell Way

Project Background

The team want to understand how people use the street now, and how it could better serve the wider area. While the project’s focus is on Mitchell Way itself, the team are also keen to understand how local people feel about Alexandria as a whole, and whether they believe there are any other opportunities to improve the town centre.

The Council has carried out improvement works in the past, to the area close to Main Street end of Mitchell Way. The project will not look to remove these works but instead will investigate how they could be improved and revitalised.

The project aims to:

• Encourage a sense of feeling and pride about the area and increase people’s enjoyment of the Mitchell Way shopping area.

• Encourage people to use the shopping area and the new public realm for business and leisure.

• Help stimulate further regeneration and improvements with the High Street and Alexandria town centre.

Page\Park Architects have been appointed by West Dunbartonshire Council to lead a multi-disciplinary design team that include: Civic Engineers, LDA, Sculpture House, Nich Smith and PMP Cost Consultants.

We would love to hear your views for the future of Mitchell Way. We are going to be running a public engagement day on the 5th April at the Alexandria Market with a wide range of family friendly activities for all ages, so everyone can get involved. Please come along to share your thoughts and ideas on how we could improve Mitchell Way!
