We are extremely saddened by the news last week that Hoskins Architects have ceased trading in the UK.

The architectural industry in Glasgow is close knit, and the closure of this truly outstanding practice affects close friends and family of many of our colleagues at Page\Park.

This is a stark reminder of the challenges faced within our industry, and the degree of commercial uncertainty and pressure that architectural practices are exposed to day in day out. This should and must serve as a point of reflection for our industry; a thriving creative profession cannot and must not be taken for granted. The role of architect is under increasing pressure, with ever increasing complexity of scope and responsibility, twinned with tightening fees and payment terms, transfer of risk, uncertain project programmes and unpredictable project pauses and delays caused by uncertainty around funding situations and statutory process.

Hoskins has been a hugely valued part of the architectural community in Scotland and beyond for many years, completing numerous projects of exceptional quality that will endure as part of their legacy of true architectural excellence.

We wish all of those affected the very best for the future.
