We are thrilled to have attended the official opening of North Gate by FM Nicola Sturgeon for New Gorbals Housing Association. The building contains 31-flats and facilities for social rent and completes the Gorbals masterplan, filling a long-standing vacant brownfield site with a new city landmark.

The event took place on the Friday 12th August which introduced new resident Mrs Ann Vezza to her new flat on the 6th floor. A plaque was unveiled in the new common facility to commemorate the event.

The project is designed to meet the needs of primarily older residents. They have access to a communal social facility to promote healthy living for though a living-well service, allowing tenants to remain independent. Spaces include a games room, communal kitchen, living room and landscaped garden area and patio.

The design was conceived as a series of towers that splay out to maximise the site potential.  This ensures all flats are either duel or triple aspect, providing considerable views out and good quality natural light. The location on Crown Street provides easy local access to shops and facilities. In addition, surrounding parks such as Glasgow Green, the Gorbals Rose Garden and Gorbals New Park make it an example of sustainable high-density, low-rise development.
