We are proud that our project in the Gorbals area of Glasgow at North Gate for our client New Gorbals Housing Association has won a 2024 RIAS Award. Our colleagues James and Andy attended the awards ceremony last night at The National Gallery in Edinburgh along with our client Simon Metcalfe.

We are constantly striving to improve the quality of architecture in our social housing, and this recognition demonstrates that this journey and commitment is worthwhile. Our client was keen to realise the development as part of the local network of landmarks, and we were therefore invited to create a gateway building, befitting of its prominent location, whilst terminating a key vista from the city centre. The fabric-first approach maximises insulation and air-tightness levels to address fuel poverty, keeping rents affordable whilst promoting equality in the social rented sector.

In addition to this the project architect for the scheme – James Brimble – collected the award for RIAS Project Architect of the Year. The judges spoke of his incredible passion and care for the building and its tenants demonstrated throughout the design and delivery of the project. We are immensely proud of you James.
