New Study space for Fettes College
We are delighted to receive planning consent for Fettes College for an extension to their 6th Form Boarding House, Craigleith.
Located at the eastern boundary of the Fettes College campus, Craigleith provides co-educational study and boarding accommodation for final year students at the College. The extension will provide new study space for day-pupils in a single storey timber building.
The design responds to the radial geometry of the original building with 6 wedge-shaped study spaces wrapping around the end gable under a mono-pitched roof. Working with Will Rudd Associates to develop the structural design, the timber building will cantilever from a masonry substructure.
The modular building design will be delivered by EcosystemsTech, a specialist contractor in off-site and sustainable construction. Using home-grown cross-laminated timber panels, the building will have a very low carbon footprint from its construction and low energy demand in use.
We look forward to helping deliver this project in an ambitious programme making use of the summer holidays on campus.
