Carrochan Headquarters
Office Street Sweep
The Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority Headquarters stands as the central administrative hub for the National Park, welcoming visitors to Balloch village and guiding them toward the entrance gates of Balloch Country Park. The National Park, established as Scotland’s first, covers a diverse and breathtaking landscape, encompassing lochs, mountains, and villages. The Park Authority oversees the protection and sustainable development of this natural landscape.
Designed as “Carrochan,” the headquarters showcases an innovative and distinctive architectural approach, featuring a sinuous form created from a two-storey ‘green’ Douglas Fir structural frame. The building’s design includes two extended gable forms enclosing a double-height, top-lit internal street, providing access to various open and closed-plan office spaces.
Carrochan’s attributes from an occupier’s perspective are exceptional. Our staff each have very different ways of working and Carrochan effectively provides a plethora of work environments to meet their changing needs throughout their working day. The staff amenities have been very effectively integrated within the main building through the use of the village street concept and much interaction takes places throughout the building. Six months since moving in we have completely rearranged the team layouts and the building has offered very real and exciting opportunities for different ways of working. ”

Workplace
Serving as the core administrative facility for the Authority, “Carrochan” accommodates a staff of 120 and fosters a community-oriented workspace design, departing from the conventional office block structure. It incorporates two sizable double-height spaces, acting as social hubs and focal points for staff and visitors.
The Loch Lomond Park Authority HQ not only exemplifies new benchmarks in office design but also influences work dynamics, facilitating structured approaches to change for its staff. The architectural firm Page\Park collaborated closely with interior designers Graven Images, aligning the building’s development with the Authority’s organizational model.
From its inception, the building prioritized the well-being of its occupants. This focus materializes in spacious, naturally illuminated areas that are well-ventilated, offering expansive views of the surrounding landscape through generously sized windows. Throughout the building, natural materials are thoughtfully incorporated, enhancing the overall ambiance.
