Work has begun on site at Rosslyn Castle, getting a major programme of conservation and repair underway. Bonnyrigg-based construction company, John Dennis & Company (Scotland) Ltd, has been appointed as the main contractor for the work at Rosslyn Castle.

The Rosslyn Chapel Trust commissioned Page\Park to develop proposals for a scheme of repair and conservation works to the East Range, a part inhabited, part ruinous section of the castle. The proposals seek to reintegrate both elements by creating a new roof over the Great Hall and tower, securing the long-term future of one of Midlothian’s most historically significant buildings in the context of climate change and increased rainfall.

Work also includes a new sustainable heating strategy, including thermal upgrades to parts of the East Range and the installation of new air source heat pumps within the castle vaults.

The project is being realised with support from structural engineers (Narro Associates), mechanical and electrical engineers (Harley Haddow), cost consultants (Morham + Brotchie), and CDM advisors (Principal CDM).
