New Hostel at 17 Carmyle Avenue for Managed Alcohol Programme

The Managed Alcohol Programme, where addiction is managed within a comfortable and safe residential environment, is a new venture for SCS and, indeed is a pioneering project within Scotland. The existing house was previously managed by SCS and was purchased using funds raised by the charity including the sale of a legacy property.

The brief for the new building was to take the existing staffed hostel and enhance and modernise the interior which needed to be non-institutional in its atmosphere. Work involved the full refurbishment of the building with full re-servicing, with alterations to add new back-to-back en-suite shower rooms carefully fitted between pairs of bedrooms.

Simon Community Scotland’s board member and project manager, Dan Donald is delighted with the building’s new arrangement and that the charity’s aspiration for a modern and friendly aesthetic has been achieved with help from Page\Park’s own interiors group.
